about Us

Recovery Technology was founded in 2002 by Greg Gallagher. His intention was to start a private counseling practice where he could “help a few people.” Initially, he specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). He quickly had more clients than he could manage alone, so he hired more staff. Greg didn’t want to just hire any staff. He wanted to hire staff that were as passionate as he was about helping people who suffered from mental illness. The more staff he hired, the more referrals came in. Seeing the need for additional types of mental health treatment in the Jackson area, Greg decided to expand into other areas. He added “Moral Reconation Therapy,” which evolved into our current Domestic Violence and Anger Management Programs. This program helps participants learn to eliminate violent, abusive and controlling behaviors from their relationships and contributes to ending the cycle of domestic violence.

Within a year, it became apparent that many of our existing clients needed case management services. In August 2003, Recovery Technology started its case management department. Case managers are often the “safety net” that helps to catch people who are in trouble. They assist clients in connecting to community resources that can considerably improve the quality of their lives.

In November 2004, Greg developed an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program to compliment Recovery Technology’s array of services. ACT delivers treatment to people with serious and persistent mental illnesses 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

In August of 2011, we developed our Psychiatric department. Once again, this was based on the needs of the community. Today Recovery Technology has 2 psychiatrist and 1 psychiatric nurse practitioner on staff.

In July of 2018 our Spravato Clinic was started. Spravato is the newest treatment for treatment resistant depression. Due to a limited number of Spravato treatment centers in the State of Michigan, Recovery Technology has patients from many surrounding counties coming here for treatments.

Over the past 20 years, Recovery Technology has developed and maintained our philosophy of being “Simply the Best” in Mental Health treatment. We are successful because of our experienced and compassionate staff and the positive work environment we have worked hard to develop.
